Just looking around

I have notifications sent to my email whenever someone leaves a comment.  I know people spam comments on blogs and I wanted to know if it happened so I could delete them.

On a regular basis I get emails regarding this post and this one.  From 2008 and 2009. (Both written by Hubby.  Hmmm.)

I know that the only people who read my drivel is family. (Anybody else who happens across me is usually Google-ing for something to do with those darn bananas they have in their freezers.  Sorry.  No help here.) And I know any old stuff is probably only looked at by me when I'm trying to remember when something happened.  So I figured since those seemed to be the main posts getting spammed, and they are from 2008/2009, I'd leave it alone and let the spam continue.

Then today I get 3 comment emails for the 2008 post.  It's usually 4 or 5 a month.  I thought 3 in a day might mean I needed to actually delete some stuff.

I sign into blogger.com, which I haven't done in a while. (I know.  I need to post more.) New layout! So I start looking around at things.  One of the things they have added is a little 'Stats' section.  And it shows pageviews.  2008 post has 94 pageviews and 2009 post has 407.  I pull up the old posts to delete the spam comments.  On the 2008 there none.  On the 2009 there were 3.

I have no idea why I get emails saying a comment has been left but they aren't there.  Internet magic, I guess.  One of these days I will have to learn how this stuff actually works.

I really like looking at the 'Audience' stats.  It shows all the different countries that have visited.  Netherlands, Russia, Germany, Latvia, Canada, United Kingdom, Turkey, France and Japan.
