Surly Teenager was a damsel in distress. Her car wouldn't start.
A knight in shining armor with a pair of jumper cables tried to rescue her. Unfortunately, he didn't know what the heck he was doing and he hooked them up backwards - positive to negative - and they overheated and caused this damage:
Beware ladies: just because he owns jumper cables doesn't mean he knows how to use them. Do yourself a favor and learn the way it's done.
