Healthy Eating

To aid in our attempts at a more healthy lifestyle, we have been
eating a lot of turkey; turkey sausage, turkey bacon, ground turkey
instead of ground beef.

I have also discovered the tastiness of MorningStar Farms. Something
that I never would have thought I would like. They are vegaterian
"not meat" type meats. They have a Spicy Black Bean Veggie Burger,
and a Tomato and Basil Veggie Pizza Burger that I dearly love. They
also have an Italian Sausage, that is an adequate substitute. Hubby
loves their Corn Dogs to an extreme. He was actually moved to tears
of disappointment when we were unable to find them at any store
recently. A search on their website informed us that alas, due to
supplier troubles, they are temporarily unavailable.

Surly Teenager has been less than thrilled with all the turkey and
veggie meats.

I have tried cooking the ground turkey with beef broth to help give it
a more beefy flavor. But she thinks the texture is funky. So now I
usually compromise and do a half and half mix of the leanest ground
beef I can get and the leanest ground turkey.

The other day I was making Mexican Chicken in the crockpot. Surly
Teenager comes in and lifts the lid, kinda sniffing at it. She asked
what was in it. I started naming ingrediants, ending with chicken.
She looked suspicously at the crockpot and said, "Real chicken chicken
or some kind of fake turkey chicken"?
